Violin and Piano, which can include music theory, lessons are offered in increments of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 1 hour. It is recommended that beginners, serious and advanced students, take two lessons a week. It is important that the beginning posture fundamentals, be learned well to prevent frustration in later years. Lessons twice a week are crucial to make sure that good posture technique, which is crucial in the formative first months of learning violin or piano, are learned and become natural to every student. For serious and Advanced students, two lesson are needed a week to provide both technical development, building repertoire and preparing the various requirements for auditions for orchestra, summer programs, etc.
Students will sign up for private weekly or tweekly, two lesson a week, lessons per semester. Due to limited enrollment, if you decide to withdraw your child from private lessons during the Fall or Spring semester, you will need to provide 2 weeks notice, noting the date that will be the last lesson.
Students may begin lessons at any time during the year. Please call to schedule a "get to know you" lesson. I believe a "get to know you" lesson is beneficial for the student, parent and me. It gives us all a chance to meet and get acquainted. Then I will follow-up with you and confirm your decision to go forward with lessons, need more time or decide to look for another teacher. I want the best teacher for your child. If that is not me, that is fine, I will help provide you other teacher options. Students now have the option of Virtual lessons, ie.Facetime, Google Hangouts, Skype, Zoom, etc., or In Person lessons, with or without facemask as requested by the student.
Only excused absences, such as sickness*, family emergency or other unavoidable emergencies, will be made up. Missed lessons due to conflicts in schedule that were not pre-excused, parties or "oops I forgot" will NOT be made up and you will be charged for the missed/cancelled lesson. *This has been my sick policy even prior to Covid-19. If your child or anyone in the student’s home is unexpectedly sick on a scheduled In Person lesson day, or within 24 hours of the student’s lesson, please call or text cancelling the In Person lesson. You may chose to have a Virtual Lesson if the student is recovering, feeling up to having a lesson, or if the student is not the one sick and therefore able to have a Virtual Lesson.
